Abstract

Abstract
This study aims to examine contractual practices within the E-Bekal digital payment system used by students at the Nurul Jadid Islamic Boarding School from the perspective of fiqh muamalah. This study employs a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving system administrators, cooperative officials, student guardians, and students as users. The research findings indicate that the operational mechanisms of E-Bekal include the process of topping up balances by student guardians, the storage of funds within the digital system, and the use of balances for transactions at the boarding school’s business units. From the perspective of fiqh muamalah, these practices reflect several contractual arrangements: wadi’ah in the topping-up and storage of funds, bai’ in purchase transactions, and wakalah in the management of the system. The conclusion of this study indicates that the E-Bekal system generally aligns with the principles of fiqh muamalah as long as it is implemented with transparency, fairness, and is free from riba and gharar. The implications of this study contribute to the development of Sharia-based digital payment systems within the pesantren environment. The recommendations of this study include the need to improve digital literacy and strengthen system infrastructure to support the optimal implementation of E-Bekal.
