Abstract

This study examines how supervision promotes teachers’ continuing professional development at Syekh Abdul Qodir Al-Jailani Vocational High School and develops an empirically grounded supervision model integrating academic, clinical, and collaborative supervision. A qualitative case study design was employed. Participants included the principal, school supervisors, and teachers selected purposively based on their involvement in supervisory practices. Data were collected through participant observation, classroom observation, in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and document analysis. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis with coding, categorization, theme development, and triangulation to ensure trustworthiness. The findings identify a Sustainable Reflective Collaborative Supervision (SRCS) Model, characterized by joint planning, classroom observation, reflective dialogue, coaching, mentoring, and professional learning communities. Unlike conventional supervision that primarily emphasizes administrative compliance, the SRCS Model positions supervision as a collaborative and reflective process that enhances teachers’ pedagogical and professional competencies, strengthens teacher agency, and improves instructional quality. Its effectiveness is supported by school leadership, a collaborative organizational culture, and continuous professional dialogue. This study contributes tothe educational supervision literature by proposing the SRCS Model as an integrative framework that embeds collaboration, reflection, and sustainability into teacher professional development, offering practical implications for strengthening supervisory practices in Islamic vocational schools.
