Abstract
This research is driven by the growing phenomenon of academic anxiety among junior high school students, characterized by exam fears, lack of confidence during presentations, and stress surrounding academic assignments. These conditions adversely impact student concentration, learning motivation, and overall academic performance, necessitating a comprehensive approach that addresses both psychological and spiritual dimensions. This descriptive qualitative study aimed to identify the manifestations of academic anxiety among students and analyze the strategies employed by Islamic Religious Education (IRE) teachers to mitigate this anxiety through an Islamic approach. Data were collected via interviews, observations, and documentation, engaging the school principal, IRE teachers, and ninth-grade students as key informants. Results revealed that academic anxiety manifested as nervousness, fear of failure, low self-efficacy, and somatic symptoms such as trembling and restlessness ahead of examinations or public speaking tasks. IRE teachers played a vital role in easing this anxiety through Islamic interventions integrated into daily school routines, including pre-learning prayers, Qur'an recitation, motivational counseling, religious advice, and the cultivation of spiritual trust (tawakal), patience, and independent effort (ikhtiar). The study concludes that an Islamic approach effectively fosters a comfortable learning environment, enhances emotional stability, and provides significant positive contributions to student mental health and character development within secondary education.
