Abstract
This study aims to explore the experiences of khaddam students as they balance their religious service responsibilities and academic demands, particularly in completing their undergraduate thesis. The main research problem focuses on the challenges faced by khaddam students and the strategies they use to balance their dual roles. This study employs a qualitative approach using the phenomenological method. The data for this study were collected through in-depth interviews with English education students who also serve as khaddam at Islamic boarding schools and are currently working on their thesis. In addition, the data were also obtained from documentation. The findings reveal that khaddam students face role conflict, time constraints, and psychological pressure that affect their ability to complete their thesis. However, they demonstrate high resilience, adaptive coping strategies, and strong motivation rooted in religious values. Social support and time management skills are crucial factors in helping them balance both roles effectively. This study underscores the complexity of balancing religious devotion and academic demands, as well as the importance of institutional support in fostering the academic success of khaddam students.
