The research was aimed to study the correlation between students’ vocabulary mastery and writing skills in report text. The population in this reseach is students of MTs Negeri 1 Probolinggo, totaling 656 students, while the sample that the researcher selected is The Ninth Grade (A) students of MTs Negeri 1 Probolinggo as the subjects of the research, totaling 22 students. The technique sampling used is non-probability sampling, accidental sampling. The researcher uses a test technique in data collection as a means of measuring students' abilities. The data was computed by SPSS 16.0. The major findings of this study are: there is correlation between students’ vocabulary mastery and writing skills in report text. This is evident from the Deviation from Linearity column that showed a value of 0,590 which was greater than 0,05. In accordance with the applicable program provisions, this showss that the regression line between the variables X and Y is linear which means there is correlation between students’ vocabulary mastery and writing skills in report text. While, the correlation level is sufficient correlation. This is evident from the results of the correlation coefficient test show a value of 0.400. Based on the correlation interpretation value guideline, the value is in the range of "0.400-0.500" which means the level of the correlation between students' mastery and writing skills in the report text is included in the level of sufficient correlation.
