Figurative language is a language that uses various figures of speech. This study discusses the analysis of figurative language in Katy Perry's song. The purpose of this study was to determine the meaning and types of figurative language used in Katy Perry's song. The data source is taken from the lyrics of the song Katy Perry. Katy Perry's song is a pop song released on October 17, 2013. The research design used in this study was a qualitative descriptive study with document or content analysis research. This thesis describes the types of figure of speech and meaning in Katy Perry's songs. From the results of the analysis, the researcher did not determine all the figurative languages in Katy Perry's song, but in this study only focused on six types of figurative language in Katy Perry's song, entitled Roar. The types of figurative language found in this study: idiom, hyperbole, simile, metaphor, onomatopia, alliteration. To support the analysis, several types of figurative language and other related references are used. There are also several related theories about figurative language used to support the analysis. There are six types of figurative language which were chosen to be analyzed. There are 1 type of figurative language (Metaphor), 3 types of figurative language (simile), 1 type of figurative language (hyperbole), 3 types of figurative language (figurative language), 1 type of figurative language (alliteration), 2 types of figurative language (Onomatopoeia), and 4 types of figurative language (idioms). Then the types of figurative language are classified and analyzed. It is hoped that this research will contribute to the reader's understanding of figurative language clearly. This can help the reader know the meaning contained in the lyrics of the song roar and speak English fluently. And it is also expected to enrich the new English vocabulary used in daily conversation.
