Writing is a way to produce language you do naturally when you speak. Narrative text is a story with complication or problematic events and it tries to find the resolution to solve the problem. What is the student’s error in writing narrative text?. This study used a qualitative approach to obtain data on students’ errors in writing narrative texts through coding. The subjects of this study were 30 students in writing narrative texts. The students' narrative texts were analyzed by referring to the classification of James carl. The findings show the number of errors is 204 errors. The 4 most common types of grammatical errors in students' narrative texts were Omission which was shown in 63 errors or 30.9%, followed by addition which appeared in 62 errors or 30.4%, and mis formation which appeared in 56 errors or 27.4 Last %, mis ordering with 23 errors or 11.3%. In conclusion, the most common mistakes in writing student narrative texts are omission with verb tense.
