Abstract

Agustini, Dwi Alda. 2023. Discourse Analysis on Sustainable Development Goals in Tere Liye’s Si Anak Kuat. Undergraduate Program, Nurul Jadid University. Advisor (I) Dr. Tirmidzi, M.Pd., Advisor (II) Bradhiansyah Tri Suryanto, M.Pd.

Keywords: Discourse Analysis, Novel, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

A novel is a literary work presented in narrative form. To comprehend the narrative themes raised within a novel, researchers can employ Discourse Analysis. In this study, before analyzing the underlying discourse, a simplified narrative structure was established through psycholinguistic and sociolinguistic approaches to provide a clear understanding of the plot and story development.

The discourse identified in Tere Liye’s novel, Si Anak Kuat, aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs are a global action plan initiated by the United Nations (UN) to ensure prosperity and world peace. Out of the seventeen goals within the SDG framework, this research finds that the novel specifically reflects four key goals: No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Quality Education, and Gender Equality. This study illustrates how these global values are integrated into the literary narrative of the story.
