This study aims to investigate the attitudes of English Education Department students toward the use of Google Translate (GT) in the learning process. A qualitative method was employed, utilizing data in the form of words, phrases, and descriptions derived from observations and interviews. The participants consisted of 25 eighth-semester students from Class A at Nurul Jadid University.

The findings, categorized based on the three components of attitude—behavioral, cognitive, and affective—reveal the following:

Behavioral Component: Students primarily use GT to check the meaning of unknown words, followed by translating sentences and paragraphs. Conversely, it is least used for checking synonyms or translating entire essays and long articles.

Cognitive Component: Students’ responses regarding GT usage were generally positive. The most dominant view is that the use of GT is acceptable as a learning tool, regardless of the specific manner in which it is utilized.

Affective Component: Regarding students' feelings, the most dominant response was feeling "so-so" (neutral) and enjoying the use of GT. Other reported emotions included a sense of dependence, occasional embarrassment, but also increased confidence when using the tool.

In conclusion, English students at Nurul Jadid University maintain a pragmatic attitude toward Google Translate, viewing it as a helpful yet supplementary tool in their academic journey.
