Abstract

Education is a conscious and planned effort to develop a person's
potential to have intellectual, spiritual and emotional intelligence. Education is
expected to make people intelligent in their thinking and polite in their behavior.
However, in reality what is happening at this time is that behavior or character is a
concrete form of education increasingly degraded . The current crisis includes
promiscuity , robbery, cheating, drug use, pornography and destruction of other
people's property . So it is felt that this has a lot of negative effects on this nation's
generation. So that's it requires more attention from the government so that it does
not become a prolonged problem that ultimately causes undesirable things. One
effort that the government can make is through cultivating character in
educational institutions . Character education will create quality and dignified
humans. Education in the Islamic boarding school environment will play a very
important role in this matter. Madrasah Aliyah Nurul Jadid Paiton and Madrasah
Aliyah Bustanul Faizin Besuki are Islamic boarding school-based schools that
continue to preserve the typical Islamic boarding school values in their education
system .
The aim of this research is to analyze the implementation of character
education at Madrasah Aliyah Nurul Jadid Paiton and Madrasah Aliyah Bustanul
Faizin Besuki and to analyze the implications of character education at these
schools .
The research method used is a qualitative approach, case study type, with
a multisite research design. Data collection techniques through observation,
interviews and documentation. Meanwhile, to analyze the data using the Miles
and Huberman method of analysis, namely data reduction, data display and
verification. With this method, it is hoped that researchers will obtain accurate
data.
The results of this research show that first, in forming the character of
Nurul Jadid Madrasah Aliyah students, Nurul Jadid's Santri Pillars are applied in
their daily lives, namely the Santri Trilogy and Santri's Five Awarenesses . The

Santri Trilogy is: (a) Paying attention to the Obligations of Fardhu 'Ain . (b) Self-
awareness by abandoning major sins. (c) Be virtuous towards God and creatures.

The Five Consciousnesses of Santri are: (a) Religious Awareness. (b)
Knowledgeable Awareness. (c) Community Awareness. (d) National and State
Awareness. (e) Organizational Awareness. Madrasah Aliyah Nurul Jadid makes
its students have the character of the Santri Trilogy and Five Consciousnesses. So
that humans are created who are virtuous in their daily lives. Second, in shaping

the character of Madrasah Aliyah Bustanul Faizin students, they apply Asah, Asih
and Nurturance (3A) in their daily lives. This makes Madrasah Aliyah Bustanul
Faizin students have the character of Asah, Asih and Nurturing (3A), so that
students become virtuous human beings in their daily lives. (3) The implications
resulting from students who have the character of the Santri Trilogy, the Five
Santri Awarenesses and Asah, Asih and Asuh (3A) can make students virtuous,
namely religious, not neglecting their obligations, active in worship, disciplined,
obedient to rules, have noble character, tolerance. , respectful, friendly, polite and
courteous, deliberative, self-confident, active and diligent in learning, respecting
other people's opinions, creative, innovative, socially caring, independent, loving
the country, working well, communicative, creative, patient and independent.
