Abstract
Agustina, Zeinita. 2024. Analysis of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Usage in Supporting Students’ Academics. Undergraduate Thesis, English Education Department, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Nurul Jadid University. Advisor: Moh. Sofyan Adi Pranata, M.Li.
Keywords: Artificial Intelligence (AI), Academic Support, Student Performance.
This study investigates the role and impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in supporting students' academic activities. Adopting a qualitative descriptive design, the research utilized observation and semi-structured interviews as the primary instruments for data collection. The primary data were derived from three purposively selected respondents who frequently integrate AI into their study routines, while secondary data were gathered from relevant scientific papers and research journals. The data analysis process involved organizing, reducing, displaying, and verifying information to identify emerging patterns and themes.
The findings demonstrate that AI plays a significant role in enhancing academic performance. Participants reported positive experiences with AI tools, specifically ChatGPT and Gemini, which facilitated the efficient achievement of their learning objectives. The primary benefits identified include rapid access to information, assistance with complex problem-solving, and the creation of interactive learning environments. However, the study also identified critical challenges, such as an increasing dependency on technology, concerns regarding data quality, and issues of unequal access. Despite these obstacles, AI possesses the potential to significantly personalize and streamline the learning experience when utilized responsibly alongside traditional pedagogical methods. This research provides valuable insights into the evolving impact of AI on modern education and student achievement.
