Thesis is the final scientific writing of a student in completing the undergraduate education program as evidence of the academic ability of the student in conducting research in accordance with his field. This study aims to explore the obstacles and causes of the obstacles in the process of writing a thesis. The research data were collected by interviewing the thirteen students of PBI class of 2017 who have not completed the thesis process. This research used descriptive qualitative research. The data were analyzed by exploring and categorizing the students’ obstacles and causes of the obstacles on thesis writing process. Based on the interview result, the researcher found several obstacles in the writing thesis, namely difficulty in determining the topic, lack of basic knowledge in writing thesis, lack of motivation from students, laziness, the different opinion between two advisors, advisors hard to find and busy with other work. The second findings are that the causes of the obstacles include they don’t like reading books, lack of self-awareness, laziness, lack of communication between students and advisors, and students have responsibility that cannot be avoided. The results of this study indicate that every student’s experience problem in the thesis writing process which causes the thesis writing to not be completed.
