This study focuses on research on remark made by the secretary general Antonio Gutteres about humanitarian in Afghanistan which was delivered on 16 August 2021 at a briefing for an emergency session of the United Nation Security Council. The purpose of this research are to describe the types of grammatical cohesion used in Antonio Gutteres’s remark to reveal about humanitarian and to know the grammatical cohesion used dominantly in Antonio Gutteres’s remark to reveal about humanitarian in Afghanistan. Grammatical cohesion refers to various grammatical devices that can be used to make the relationship between sentences more explicit. The method use in this research is descriptive qualitative method by using documentation technique. The result in this research that there are 5 types of grammatical cohesion that have been found in his remark. They found are personal reference (P-R), demonstrative reference (D-R), verbal substitution (V-S), additive conjunction (Add-C) and adversative conjunction (Ad-C). In addition, the grammatical cohesion use dominantly in Antonio Gutteres’s remark mostly used additive conjunction (Add-C) of and in almost each of the paragraph in his remark about humanitarian.
