This study aims to analyze the types of errors made by students and find the types of errors that are often made by students in writing descriptive texts and to find out the source of errors in writing. This research is a qualitative research. the subjects of this study were first grade students in MTs. Badridduja, total 30 students. The task of writing descriptive text was used as a research instrument. The results showed that students made mistakes in writing due to four factors, such as: addition, omission, misinformation, and misordering. besides the type of omission is the type of error that is often done, and caused by several factors, one of which is carelessness, mother tongue and translation. This sugges that the students' ability in writing descriptive text needs to be improved.
