This research aimed to investigate the use of Guessing Games in improving students' speaking skills. The subjects of this study were the seventh-grade students of MTs NU Sunan Ampel Gumukmas-Jember. This specific class was selected because the students encountered significant difficulties in speaking English.
The research design employed was Classroom Action Research (CAR), focusing on enhancing speaking abilities through the implementation of Guessing Games. Data were collected through field notes, as well as pre-test and post-test scores.
The results of the analysis demonstrated that the Guessing Game effectively increased the students’ speaking skills, particularly in the context of descriptive text. During the learning process, the teacher utilized animal pictures to facilitate the game. Similarly, the researcher employed animal pictures combined with a "word wall" as instructional media. Animal pictures were specifically chosen because they were easily recognizable and relatable for the students, making it easier for them to describe and identify objects during the speaking activities.
