Teaching English through literary works, such as novels, has proven effective in increasing students' motivation. To fully comprehend and critique a novel's content, the competence to conduct discourse analysis is essential. This study aims to describe the discourse presented in the novel Bumi by Tere Liye, utilizing both psycholinguistic and sociolinguistic approaches.

The research objectives are achieved by providing a simplified narrative of the story, alongside psycholinguistic and sociolinguistic diagrams. These tools clarify the structural elements of the storyline and illustrate how the discursive value of cooperation is portrayed throughout the novel.

The results demonstrate that the value of cooperation in life is deeply embedded within the narrative. The findings suggest that cooperation is vital for materializing goals and overcoming personal limitations. Conversely, the analysis indicates that a lack of cooperation, often driven by snobbery, leads to a series of failures. This study concludes that the discourse in Bumi serves as a reflection of the necessity of collective effort in achieving success.
