Abstract

Rostika, Nofi Dia. 2023. Analyzing Emotional Problems of Students in Completing Thesis at Universitas Nurul Jadid. Undergraduate Thesis, English Education Department, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Nurul Jadid University. Advisor: (I) Mochlis Ekowijayanto, M.Pd., (II) Durratul Hikmah, M.Pd.

Keywords: Emotional Problems, Undergraduate Students, Thesis Supervision.

This study aims to examine the role of students' emotions during the thesis completion process and to identify the factors that trigger both positive and negative emotional responses. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive method, data were collected through observation and interviews. The findings reveal that the factors influencing student emotions consist of two categories: human and non-human factors. Human factors are associated with the academic context (such as academic challenges and interactions) and the family environment. Conversely, non-human factors include logistical aspects such as the timing and location of consultations, examinations, and the research process required to support students' writing. Overall, this research provides a comprehensive overview of the emotional challenges faced by students during their thesis journey and offers significant insights into addressing these issues. It is hoped that the results of this study will serve as a foundation for developing more effective programs and strategies to help students manage negative emotions and complete their undergraduate theses more efficiently in the future.
