Abstract

Masruroh, Wilda Layli. 2023. Improving Seventh-Grade Students’ Speaking Skill through Hedbanz Game at SMP Insan Terpadu. Undergraduate Program, Nurul Jadid University. Advisor (I) Syaiful Islam, M.Pd., Advisor (II) Mochlis Ekowijayanto, M.Pd.

Keywords: Speaking Skill, Hedbanz Game, Classroom Action Research.

This research aims to improve the speaking skills of seventh-grade students at SMP Insan Terpadu through the implementation of the Hedbanz Game and to describe the process by which this game enhances their speaking proficiency. The study employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design, conducted in two cycles. The subjects were 22 students of class VII-B. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and interviews, and were analyzed using both qualitative and quantitative methods. The findings demonstrate that the Hedbanz Game is an effective method for teaching speaking, as evidenced by the improvement in students' speaking performance across the cycles. The game fostered a more interactive and engaging learning environment, allowing students to practice verbal communication more confidently. In conclusion, the Hedbanz Game significantly contributes to the improvement of students' speaking skills in an EFL context.
