Abstract
Nafi’ah, Faizatun. 2024. Teacher’s Strategy in Teaching Vocabulary: Case Study at MTs Al Falah Sumenep-Madura. Undergraduate program Nurul Jadid University. Advisor: Syaiful Islam M.pd.
Key word: Teaching Strategy, Teaching Vocabulary.
This study aims to determine the teacher strategy used in teaching English vocabulary in class VII MTs Al Falah Sumenep Madura, and to find out the inhibiting and supporting factors of the use of these strategies. The subject of this research was the one English teacher‟ in class VII MTs Al Falah. This research used a qualitative method with a case study approach. And the data collection used observation, interview, and documentation. The result of this research was the teacher used drilling strategies and game strategies. From the used of drilling strategies and game strategies, there were several supporting factors and inhibiting factors. The inhibiting factors for the used of drilling strategies and game strategies were the 3 students were still difficult to memorize and remember vocabulary because they lack guidance from parents while at home, their parents completely leave their children to school. In addition, there were some students who do not focus on listened to the rules of the game, causing some students to be confused when playing. And there were 2 students who were noisy when played because they don't understand how to play. So that it causes other students not to concentrate on memorizing new vocabulary. While the supporting factor was that this strategy can make it easier for grade VII students of MTs Al Falah to pronounce, remember, and memorize vocabulary, and can make it easier for teachers to teach vocabulary. Also, the supporting factors for the used of game strategy in vocabulary learning were that it can make it easier for grade VII students of MTs Al Falah to memorize new vocabulary, and can make the class atmosphere fun and attract students' interest in learning.
