Abstract

Dyah Lestari, Kinanti. 2024. Investigating LPBA Students’ Ability in Writing Narrative Text. English Education Department, Undergraduate Program, Nurul Jadid University. Advisor: Durratul Hikmah, M.Pd.

Keywords: Student Ability, Writing, Narrative Text, LPBA.

LPBA (Lembaga Pengembangan Bahasa Asing) is recognized as an institution that frequently achieves national success in storytelling competitions. This study aims to analyze the ability of intermediate-level students at LPBA Nurul Jadid in writing narrative texts and to identify the factors influencing their writing performance. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive research design with a case study approach, the researcher collected data through observations, interviews, and the analysis of students' written storytelling scripts. The findings indicate a diverse range of proficiency among the participants: four students demonstrated low writing ability, six students showed moderate ability, and six students exhibited high ability. Furthermore, the study reveals that the students' writing outcomes are significantly influenced by the learning environment and the institutional learning system. Despite the institution's reputation, the results suggest that certain students require more intensive guidance and consistent practice to refine their narrative writing skills.
