Speaking is one of the language aspects that should be mastered by language learner because they need it to communicate each other. However, many language learners find it difficult to express themselves in spoken language. This case also happened in the Eighth-grade of MTs Nurul Jadid. MTs Nurul Jadid is one of the schools that reside in Nurul Jadid Islamic Institute of Education and Science. According to the school-based junior high school curriculum, every student is expected to be able to communicate simple conversation in English at the class. The research was aimed to study whether the reciprocal teaching in method improve students’ speaking skill. The population of this research was 295. The sample of this research was 61 students of Eighth-grade at Mts Nurul Jadid. The research employ quasi-experiment with nonequivalent pretets-postest design. The sampling technique using purposive sampling. In this researcc, oral perfomance test was used to collect data. The data computed by SPSS 16. The finding of this research are: the result of the data analysis showed that the value of zvalue was 1,6 and the researcher used the degree of significance 0,025 = 1,96. by comparing zvalue and the ztable 1,6 < 1,96 the null hypothesis is rejected. Hence, there was significance effect between students’ speaking taught using reciprocal teaching method.
