This study investigates the experiences of Generation Z students in utilizing Instagram as a platform for English language acquisition. As digital natives, Gen Z learners are inherently drawn to visual and interactive environments, positioning Instagram as a potentially potent supplementary learning tool. Employing a qualitative descriptive method, this research involved five female participants aged 21-22. Data were gathered through in-depth interviews and documentation, subsequently processed using thematic analysis which encompassed data reduction, categorization, and synthesis.

The findings demonstrate that Instagram facilitates English learning across multiple linguistic dimensions, including vocabulary acquisition, grammar comprehension, pronunciation, fluency, and writing skills. Specific features such as Reels, infographics, live sessions, and interactive story quizzes were identified as the most impactful content formats. Beyond linguistic gains, students reported significant affective benefits, including heightened motivation, increased confidence, and expanded cultural awareness. However, the study also identified critical challenges, namely digital distractions, varying content quality, and a lack of pedagogical structure. To mitigate these obstacles, students employed proactive strategies such as feed curation, utilizing "save" features for educational repositories, setting specific learning objectives, and engaging in content creation. This study concludes that Instagram offers a relevant, engaging, and multimodal environment that aligns with Gen Z learning preferences. Educators are encouraged to integrate social media into formal instruction while fostering digital literacy to maximize the platform's educational potential.
